Marketing  Market to Client Friends?

Word of mouth spreads like fire, often much faster when the news is negative, but can still affect your ability to gain referrals. Did you upset a customer so much you lost their business? Maybe it wasn't your fault, maybe there wasn't anything you could have done. That doesn't matter. What matters, is all of their friends now know their side of the story, which doesn't end happily for you. 

Now, we all know that we cannot make every customer happy at all times, but what you can do is learn how utlize the happy customers. Do you have a client of yours that you saved a TON of money for? Why aren't you bugging them all the time for referrals? Weather you are a P/C agent, L/H, or even a Wholesaler/MGA you need to reach out to those happy clients and BEG them to recommend you. 

You know that these people are surely going to tell everyone that will listen about a negative experience, so why not encourage them to do the same with good news? You can simply ask them or maybe offer an incentive to them for referrals? Either way, its high time that you stop waiting for renewal time and start picking up the phone, sending emails, doing whatever you can to gain those referrals.
