Cameron NauberreitThis year the GUS MACKER Basketball tournament is partnering with local businesses doing a benefit to help a little boy battling cancer. Four-year-old Cameron Naubereit, whose family grew up in New Berlin NY, Chenango County, was diagnosed with brain cancer in February 2016. Since February Cameron has gone through many treatments and just recently came through a 9 hour surgery to remove the tumor.  He is currently at Albany Medical Center going through chemotherapy treatments and will start radiation treatments in August. Cameron’s grandmother, Lynne Robertson, is a long time Gates Cole employee and member of our wonderful community & states “he is just an amazing four-year-old”.  Lynne contributes Cameron’s strength and positive attitude to him being young and not truly understanding how serious everything he is going through is.  He just goes with the flow with whatever happens and continues to be an incredible inspiration to all that know him. NYCM Insurance Company, out of Edmeston NY, a company that Gates Cole writes for, has partnered with the Norwich Family YMCA & the Gus Macker tournament to help raise money for any expenses Cameron’s family is enduring during this difficult time. This year at the Gus Macker Tournament, NYCM will be doing the “NYCM Trifecta Contest”.  The contest will take place during the tournament on Saturday, 7/9/2016 on East Main St, Norwich NY in the Tops parking lot. Contestants are asked to donate to the fund to enter the contest.  Once entered, players must successfully complete a free throw, a 3 point shot and a half court shot in under 30 seconds.  Five successful players will randomly be chosen to compete a second time for a chance to win $1000 from NYCM Insurance Company. At the end of Saturday’s event, Samantha Harrington from NYCM Insurance has stated that, NYCM will match the amount raised & all proceeds will be given to Cameron and his family. Cameron’s  grandmother, Lynne, is over whelmed by the generosity and support of NYCM and our community and says she and her family are forever grateful for everything being done.
