The Jordan Insurance Group, MD, Sidewalk artA Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk is an outdoor art celebration that is free and open to the public. It is being held from July 2013 through September 2014 in association with the "Star Spangled 200" National Bicentennial celebration in the state of Maryland. It is a work in progress that is being created on the public pavement that runs adjacent to the American Visionary Art Museum's location in Federal Hill, Maryland. The American Visionary Art Museum is located at 800 Key Highway. The main goal of the A Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk celebration is to depict the National Anthem of the United States in a way that is informative, engaging and family friendly. The format will playfully welcome both the feet of visitors and wheelchairs in an experience that allows them to view the symbols and ideals that make this country great in a way that is up close and personal. Starting at the beginning of the program in April 2013, the sidewalk outside the Federal Hill location of the American Visionary Art Museum (located very close to Baltimore's historic Inner Harbor) was slowly transformed into a visual interpretation of the Star-Spangled Banner. Each line of the National Anthem was applied in the form of an image to the sidewalk through the use of pigments and sealant that were environmentally safe. Artists continued to work on the progress of the sidewalk all throughout the summer of 2013. Once A Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk is completed, it will remain on display in its location until September of 2014. Doing so will allow both families and regular passersby to experience first hand Maryland's shining history as a part of the 50 United States. The A Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk exhibition is linked to another thematic exhibition that was held by the American Visionary Art Museum from 2012 to 2013 that was called "The Art of Storytelling: Lies, Enchantment, Humor and Truth." The A Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk project is funded partially from state funds derived from the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission. Come celebrate Maryland in a truly unique visual way with the entire family. Content provided by Transformer Marketing.
