Do I Really Need Dental Insurance?

R. David Bulen Insurance, CA, Dental InsuranceAt first glance, it may seem like dental insurance is a scam. After all, you can pay out-of-pocket for your annual cleanings and probably pay less overall. But that doesn’t mean dental insurance is not worth it. Ultimately, only you can decide if getting the coverage is right for your situation, but answering these three questions can make the choice a little easier. Will you actually go to the dentist if you have to pay out-of-pocket? Yes, if you add up your monthly premium and compare it to the cash price of your cleanings, it is probably less expensive to simply skip the coverage. However, a lot of people tell themselves they will just pay cash, but then something always comes up. Either a car breaks down or a vacation seems more important, and that dental checkup gets pushed to the wayside. So, if you are committed to your dental health (because bad gums can lead to heart disease, stroke and diabetes), it’s probably the smart choice to get dental insurance. Do you need x-rays? Your annual cleanings and exams are one thing, but x-rays add an entirely new level to the comparison. If it has been a few years since you have had your mouth x-rays taken, chances are your dentist will want to take them again. In this case, it is going to be much more affordable to get the dental insurance versus paying out-of-pocket. Do you want to be worried all year about something happening? Just like health insurance, dental insurance is all about the peace of mind it gives you. Hopefully, you won’t need to use it for anything besides preventative dental care, but in the off-chance you do, you will be very glad you opted for dental coverage. Cavities, root canals, chipped teeth, etc. can all happen when you least expect them, no matter how good your physical care is. Do you want to be stuck footing the entire bill, or do you want your dental insurance to pick up the majority of the tab? The answer seems pretty clear. Content provided by:  Transformer Marketing.
