Flu_SneezeSure, your goal is always to have the healthiest, happiest, smoothest running workplace you can. But fall is an especially good time to emphasize health: The health of your employees, the health of your business, even the health of your premises. Let’s take a look at several great ways you can prioritize health this fall. Look Out for Hazards Winter weather brings treacherous roads and slippery surfaces. Protect your employees, vendors and clients from them by clearing out your parking lots and cleaning off walkways in fall. Remove slippery leaves, which can build up and cause cars to skid and people to fall. Get fallen branches out of common areas so they don’t trip people when covered with snow. Don’t Forget Health Insurance Enrollment While not all plans are the same, fall and early winter are the most common times for open health insurance enrollment. Whether all your employees are on the same plan or choose individual plans themselves, make sure they don’t miss the window. If you need to, appoint someone to oversee the process and ensure all paperwork is received in time for processing. Care for Your Plants Plants need care too. If you want healthy landscape specimens, then fall is a great time to clean up the ground around them, lay down mulch and prune out any dead or diseased branches. Doing this will help plants stay warm, healthy and disease-free all through the chilly winter months, so don’t neglect this step. Fall is also the time to give grass a final mow and prune back perennial flowers and grasses. Protect Your Building If you’re solely responsible for your building, then take the imitative to get the furnace checked, have the roof looked at and turn off outdoor pipes so they don’t freeze and bust. If you’re part of an association, be sure to pay your dues and fulfill your responsibilities. Fall is a common time for maintenance, so be prompt. Maintaining a high level of health doesn’t require a lot of time or energy. It just means putting a few tasks on your list, then checking them off. If you have a lot of employees, go ahead and delegate these tasks or appoint a task force. Just be sure they get done, and you’ll have your healthiest winter yet!
