Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals

It's that time of year again. Planning for the New Year, reviewing the year gone by, both organizationally and personally it's a time of reflection and goal setting. Here at CompleteMarkets we are always in the process of innovating and growing, and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes.

When setting goals it's important to have S.M.A.R.T goals. For the folks that haven't heard of that acronym it stands for:

Specific - Answers the W's, Who, What, Where, When, Why
Measurable - Set Quantifiable goals
Attainable - It has to be something you can actually accomplish
Relevant - Goals should be in-line with overall objectives
Timeframe - There should be a Set time for when the goal will be accomplished

An example of a non Smart Vs Smart goal would be the following for last year:


At CompleteMarkets we would like to grow revenues this year.


We want to grow Gross Revenue by 50% by end of Q4. We will accomplish this by renewing a minimum of 95% of our current customers, while engaging new prospects through inbound activity from our online real estate, social media, email, phone, and events. (As a side note we have more than achieved this goal)

Our actual goal is a bit more specific but for the sake of privacy we've left off a bit of it, but I hope you get the feel of the difference.
