Great Question!
At Alexander J Wayne and Associates we have experince with both of these programs. We provide both Cyber Liabilty and Technology E&O and I will be happy to explain the difference between them.
A Cyber Liability policy consists of First and Third Party Coverages which are triggered when there is a breach of Personally Identifiable Information. This is whether there is a loss of physical documents, hardware, whether the system is breached due to hacking or in some cases if there is a rogue employee.
This coverage pays to investigate a breach, notify those customers affected, providing them with credit monitoring, as well as additional coverage for any suits brought about for any damages a breach may cause
Technology Errors and Omissions is coverage which protects professionals in the technology field from any lawsuits which arise out of their performance of their professional services. These professionals include IT Consultants, Computer Programmers, Data Warehouses, etc…
Currently You may See Cyber Coverage included on Technology Errors and Omissions Policies but you will not generally see Cyber on Standard Errors and Omissions Policies.
Thank You,
Jason A Quaglia
