Ask Your Peers  Carriers for Nonprofits, Community Associations, Social Services, Churches and Childcares,

Help! The wholesale insurance broker I work for receives between 30-40 submissions daily for Nonprofits, Community Associations, Social Services, Churches and Childcares. We work with agents and connect them to a few carriers now but many of the risks we see for package insurance are often declined. Many of these declines are great risks that for one reason or another do not fit with our markets.

If you know of carriers that offer competitive commission to wholesalers for these classes of business, please let me know.

Thanks,
Tony

Tony,

I am a retail agent in NY and we use Philadelphia, Harleysville, & Selective for many of our non-profits. Your wholesaler can check with these markets. I know that Philadelphia works with wholesalers but I am not sure if Harleysville and Selective do.

Great American has a Specialty Division that writes non-profits. NIF also has a program written on Safeco paper.

Tony,

I did a search for non-profit social services, using our Find It tool.  If you click here you can see the companies that may be able to assist you.

I hope this helps!

Tony,
The Hartford will write churches and non-profits (professional and membership orgs) providing that they have been in business for 3 years. For the social services my wholesaler has had luck with CNA and Zurich.

Hi Tony!

We have access to USLI and The Hartford. All of the items you mention fit very nicely with USLI. I'm curious as to the reasons for declinations. Let me know if we can help in any way.

There are some other potential markets:

First:
Philadelphia will only do the D&O for wholesalers. The rest of their church and non-profit programs are only accessible by retail agents. Same goes for Great American.

Other markets:
- Starr
- Lexington
- NAS
- Proassurance
- Promont Advisors
- Hunteresure

Good Luck!
