According to MSNBC's
How to plan the perfect Superbowl Party article, the Super Bowl isn't about the game or the team for most watchers, but about the gathering of friends and fellow football fans to enjoy time together and have fun!
There are a few basic rules to throwing your own Super Bowl party:
1.
Serve (good) food. Most of it can be snack like items like chips and salsa, but make sure you aren't expecting your guests to chomp on celery. This is a football game where greasy foods are an essential item. Can't afford to splurge the whole party? Make it a potluck!
2.
Drinks, and plenty of them. You should have a community cooler that you and your guests can chill soft drinks, juice, bottled water, and beer. Don't splurge on the bottle of Crystal, but buy some middle ranking beer that everyone can enjoy, and supplement with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks.
3.
Have an alternate form of entertainment. The article suggests games link Taboo or cards, but I don't think board or card games is all that can be used. If you live in a warmer climate, try setting up a BBQ socialization area where people can hang out side, kick around a soccer ball or just hang out. Another idea is a karaoke room. Have a spare bedroom or basement? Hook up a karaoke machine and laugh at all your friends!
