This past weekend in Southern California there was a swarm of more than 200 Earthquakes near the border of Mexico. Luckily the largest was only a 5.5 in magnitude with only minor damage to homes and businesses. This does serve as a reminder that Earthquake Insurance is rarely included in Homeowners or BOP policies, this is a coverage that you should remind your clients to look into purchasing.

By letting your clients know up front that this coverage in not usually included in their policies you can not only help to make sure that they are adequately covered should a quake hit. But you will also be able to avoid the headache of arguing with them should they try to file a claim not knowing that they are not covered for that damage.

I think there are matters more significant than property coverage. Ask your customers what they will do oif the power is out for more than a day and utilities are off. They need to have a bug out plan and in the event the roads are closed a plan to have water, food and protection until order can be restored. To this add the possibility oif a tsunami hitting the coast and coming inward.
