Ideal Clients and Appetite

This American Specialty program is designed specifically for live and simulcast racing venues and their supporting operations. Ideal accounts include thoroughbred and quarter horse tracks, harness racing facilities, greyhound tracks, racinos, off-track betting (OTB) sites, simulcast-only venues, combination tracks, and special-event racing operations.

The program has a particular appetite for venues that host regular racing events, manage wagering and concessions, operate simulcast or OTB services, or combine gaming with live racing. Seasonal operations and expansions to add simulcasting or special events are considered—subject to underwriting review.

Coverage Highlights and Advantages

American Specialty’s Horse Tracks Insurance program brings a targeted package of coverages that reflect the operational risks of racing venues. Key advantages for agents and brokers:

  • Program-specific forms and rating to match racing exposures.
  • Admitted paper in available states for regulatory certainty and local compliance.
  • In-house underwriting and claims teams that understand racing operations and can respond quickly to placement or claim issues.
  • Flexible deductible and SIR options to help structure coverage for varying risk tolerances.

Underwriting Notes and Minimum Premiums

Underwriting focuses on the size of the venue, frequency of events, crowd capacity, wagering activity, concessions and liquor exposure, animal handling practices, and on-site security. Minimum premiums vary by state and by account size and complexity; American Specialty offers responsive, in-house underwriting to provide timely eligibility and pricing guidance.
