Ideal Accounts and Appetite

American Specialty is looking to partner with agents placing accounts that involve animal interaction, public education, and entertainment. Ideal submissions include traditional zoos, aquariums, drive-through animal parks, and wildlife exhibits. Seasonal attractions and traveling exhibitions may also be considered. We understand the exposures unique to these venues—from volunteer liability to animal-related incidents—and tailor coverage accordingly.

Examples of strong fits for this program include:

  • A regional aquarium that hosts school field trips and special events.
  • A drive-through safari park offering interactive animal feeding experiences and guided tours.

Underwriting and Minimum Premiums

This program is supported by highly rated carriers and features admitted coverage in all available states. All policies use program-specific forms and rates, and are non-auditable—helping your clients avoid unexpected premium adjustments. Minimum premiums vary based on the risk profile and size of the operation.

Territories and Availability

The Zoos and Aquariums Insurance Program is available in all 50 states plus Washington, DC. Whether your client operates in a rural area or a major metropolitan region, American Specialty has the capacity and flexibility to support your placement needs across the country.

AGENCY LICENSING

Licensing

Each state’s regulatory department requires licensing for any broker soliciting coverage within that state. Failure to maintain proper licensing status can result in penalties not only to the broker, but also to the insurer. Therefore, in addition to the completed Broker Agreement, we require that you provide the following:

1.      A copy of your resident license and, if applicable, non-resident licenses for each state in which you have an account insured with our program.

2.      A copy of your agency’s corporate license issued by your state's Department of Insurance.
