Liquor Insurance — Caitlin Morgan Insurance Services
Caitlin Morgan Insurance Services offers access to specialized Liquor Legal Liability coverage designed for retail alcohol exposures. Our wholesale brokerage placement options serve agents who need a market for bars, restaurants, clubs and similar operations where liquor exposure is a primary underwriting concern. We combine targeted appetite, flexible limits and industry-focused underwriting to help you place accounts that many general liability programs decline or restrict.
Overview of the Program
This program provides mono-line liquor liability placements with limits and features tailored for hospitality and club operations. Coverage is underwritten to address common alcohol-related exposures, including third-party bodily injury and property damage arising from service of alcohol. Caitlin Morgan works with multiple admitted and non-admitted carriers to provide capacity and flexibility for a range of account profiles.
Ideal Accounts and Appetite
This program targets accounts where liquor exposure is the primary risk. Typical fits include:
- Restaurants (with and without bars)
- Sports bars, taverns and neighborhood bars
- Private, golf and tennis clubs
- Caterers and venues that serve alcohol
- Bowling alleys and similar entertainment venues
Accounts with strong loss controls, trained staff (RAMP/serving training), and clear policies for intoxication management are preferred. High-risk operations (e.g., unlicensed repeat violations, severe prior liquor losses, large-scale nightclubs with uncontrolled capacity) may be declined or require special terms.
Coverage Highlights and Advantages
- $1M per occurrence liquor legal liability, with $2M aggregate limits available
- Per-location aggregate available for multi-location operations
- Assault and battery coverage included on accounts where liquor sales are under 55%
- Assault and battery buy back option for accounts over 55% liquor
- Minimum premium as low as $1,000 for eligible risks
Underwriting Notes and Submission Requirements
Provide the following to start a submission: three years of loss history, copy of the liquor license, schedule of locations and annual liquor receipts, details on security and staff training, and any incident policies. Underwriting will consider percentage of revenue from alcohol, hours of operation, patron capacity, and prior liquor-related claims or violations.
Example placements you might have: a neighborhood restaurant with a modest bar seeking a mono-line liquor policy for a new location; or a private golf club requiring per-location aggregate limits and assault & battery options as part of their risk program.
