Fast Food Restaurant Insurance

Insurance Programs of America (IPOA) offers tailored insurance solutions for fast food and quick-service restaurant businesses through our specialized RestaurantPro program. We understand the unique risks and operational challenges that come with running fast-paced restaurant environments, and we've built a program designed to help agents protect their clients with confidence.

Overview of the Program From IPOA

As a Managing General Underwriter and Excess & Surplus Lines Broker, IPOA delivers a competitive, non-admitted fast food restaurant insurance program available nationwide. RestaurantPro is underwritten through top-rated carriers and offers exclusive coverage extensions that cater specifically to the needs of fast food operations. Whether your client is operating a single-unit franchise or managing multiple quick-service locations, our team provides the underwriting expertise and support you need to place quality business.

Ideal Accounts and Appetite

RestaurantPro is designed for fast food and quick-service restaurant owners with a solid operational history. Ideal accounts include:
  • Established fast food chains or franchises with at least 3 years of ownership experience
  • Buildings constructed in 1989 or later, or those that have been fully gut-renovated
  • Locations with updated roofing within the past 15 years
  • Restaurants with Class K fire extinguishers installed in all kitchen areas
  • Operations with delivery services (no Hired and Non-Owned Auto coverage included)
Sprinkler-protected buildings and properties in protection classes 1–8 receive preferred pricing consideration. All construction types are considered, and named storm coverage is included in all states, including Florida.

Coverage Highlights and Advantages

Our program includes exclusive restaurant insurance extensions specifically developed for fast food risks. Agents can expect:
  • Customized coverage solutions developed for the fast food industry
  • National reach with surplus lines flexibility
  • Access to knowledgeable underwriters with restaurant expertise
  • Support for risks with delivery exposures (excluding HNOA)
For example, if you have a client operating a regional chain of quick-service taco restaurants in multiple states, RestaurantPro can offer comprehensive coverage with underwriting flexibility that accounts for delivery, fire suppression, and storm-related exposures.

Underwriting Notes and Minimum Premiums

RestaurantPro has a $10,000 minimum premium and is best suited for accounts that meet the following underwriting criteria:
  • Established ownership and operational history (minimum 3 years)
  • Updated safety and fire suppression systems
  • Recent renovations or original construction from 1989 or later
Underwriting is handled in-house at IPOA, allowing us to provide responsive service and customized solutions to our agency partners.

Territories and Availability

This program is available in all 50 states and Washington, DC. As a non-admitted offering, RestaurantPro provides flexibility in coverage design and underwriting, especially in catastrophe-prone areas like Florida, where named storm coverage is included.
