According to the United States Geological Survey there are more than 3 million earthquakes each year. Many of these earthquakes are too weak to notice, however at least a handful occur in populated areas and cause destruction and death.  For example one of the most powerful recorded earthquakes occurred in Indonesia in 2004, with a magnitude of 9.0. It caused a powerful tsunami that devastated 12 Asian countries. A week after the estimated death toll was at 150,000, this was doubled within a month, and because of the massive devastation it is possible we may never know the total number of lives lost.  Entire towns were completely destroyed, and millions of people lost their homes. We are unsure of when, where an earthquake will hit and how big it will be. Just this weekend in South Carolina and Georgia there was a 4.1 magnitude, luckily there were no immediate reports of injury or damage. This is why it is important to be properly covered. Do you know if your home is up to code for earthquake, Or if you are properly coved for them?
Do you think there should be more laws on building codes for earthquake safety?
