What is the correct NCCI code for a Restoration Contractor like a Servepro or Restoration 1. Goes in to cleanup after a clogged floor drain, flood, or any other natural disaster. Could include mold determination or removal. Is 0917 Janitorial correct? I think this is only for typical maintenance.

9170 but if they are doing any remodeling like tearing out destroyed walls, floors, etc a construction code would apply. SouthEast offers this type of Workers' Comp Coverage in 21 States including MD if you would like to discuss. In MD we do require a 40k minimum premium which is one of our higher states.

9170 is for Janitorial Services 'risks primarily engaged in providing janitorial services and includes all maintenance and ordinary repair, such as changing light bulbs, painting, clearing clogged drains, etc., but only if the contractor also performs janitorial service for the building. If janitorial service is not provided, painting, maintenance, or ordinary repair work is assigned to the appropriate construction classification(s).'

5610 is for Debris Removal but it 'can only be used in connection with construction operations and only when the combined payroll for cleaners, timekeepers, and watchguards exceeds the total of all other payroll of the insured subject to construction classifications at the same job or location.' e.g. 5445 for wallboard take-down & installation, 5473 for asbestos removal, 5403 for carpentry, etc. Payroll must be tracked for each construction class separately; if not, it will all go into the highest rated class code.

Code 9014 Janitorial Services by Contractors
'Code 9014 also applies to employees of contracting risks, or specialty contractors, cleaning newly constructed or renovated buildings. Such cleaning is limited to washing down interior walls and countertops; vacuuming carpeting; sweeping or mopping floors; dusting; polishing plumbing fixtures, cabinets, stair railings and banisters; cleaning windows and mirrors; sanitizing bathrooms; and similar operations. Code 9014 does not include debris removal. Refer to code 5610. Employees performing both debris removal and cleaning services can segregate payroll with proper records.'
