We all know there are a million different types of coverage individuals can purchase, but what ARE they purchasing compared to what they SHOULD purchase? A homeowner can have fire, flood, earthquake, and even protection from acts of terrorism on their home, but how many people buy all of those coverage? Few. In fact, most probably only get the minimum about of coverage provided. The fact is that we, as Americans, look at insurance as a "have to have" not a need. Insurance is a need for all individuals to protect their assets. How many people do you think have their house listed as their most valuable asset? I would guess that percentage is very high, especially for middle-class Americans. How many of those know the types of discounts one can get by purchasing additional coverages on their same policy?
Why are we not becoming more informed and acting with foresight? Does a disaster have to happen to us to make us realize the extra few dollars a month can save hundreds of thousands in the future?
