Ask Your Peers  Market for Distressed Homes??

Does anyone know of a market that will write a Fire policy for a damaged secondary home? I have a home that will be knocked down and rebuilt, however I need a Fire policy to cover the existing structure until the insured is ready to take that step (in about 6 months). This would be in NJ down the shore. It was damaged suring Hurricane Sandy and is not inhabitable.

Thanks!

Fran,

Thanks for the question!  Try this search for Coastal Homeowners.  It looks like they might have a couple companies that might be able to help you out.

Thank you for using CompleteMarkets!

Have you tried American Modern? We write with them through a broker so I don't have a direct contact with them to find out for sure regarding this specific risk. However, I do know they wrie unoccupied homes that aren't in the best condition.
