U.S. Risk Brokers  Frequent Flyer Miles are Threatened by American Airlines and US Airways Merge 

American Airlines and US Airways will be merging which has a lot of customers concerned about what happens to their frequent travel miles. According to CNN.com the current programs will go on as is, but once the deal is completed the miles will be combined (details not yet released). 

Some are trying to use up miles before this happens in case they lose them or they have less "value" others are sticking it out in hopes that they will be able to utilize miles from both airlines.
