It happens all the time.  You go to the grocery store to load up on vegetables only to find when you cut into them, that they are rotten.   Do you wanna know how to avoid that from happening again?  Follow these simple tips when buying vegetables. Asparagus is best purchased in the spring.  The tips should be closed and compact.  The stems should go be green. Beets are one of the vegetables that you can get all year around.  Good beets would be rich in red color and be firm and round. Brussel Sprouts are best between October and December, but you can still find good ones 10 months out of the year.  Good ones won’t have any bruising or blemishing, be firm, and rich in green color. Carrots are available all year long.  A firm carrot will be smooth and well formed.  The tops should be green in color. Celery is available all year long.  A glossy surface and green leaflets are tell-tale signs of healthy celery. Corn is available all year long with the best time for corn is May-September.  Green husks and plump kernels are the best way to tell if your corn is going to be good. There are no bad times to buy lettuce, mushrooms, or onions.  But in order to get the cream of the crop you have to look out for healthy and vibrant leaves on lettuce, Caps should be white or brown consistently throughout the mushroom, and onions should be firm with dry necks. Next time you are at the grocery store, you’ll know what to look for when purchasing your favorite vegetables. Content provided by Transformer Marketing. I remember my wife and I going to a parenting class and learning the mantra, “firm, but fair.” It's okay to have clear rules in your household and enforce them; however, you want to do so in a fair manner. When we’re clear about the rules, we can be firm. . I'm sure you've shared my personal experience where parents or bosses have punished you for rules you never knew existed –until after you were punished for them!Often, the knowledge is so “commonsensical” to the parent or boss that they just assume the child or the employee know it also. Never mind that it took 20 years for that boss or parent to finally “get it” themselves. When we’re clear on the rules, there’s predictability. There’s integrity. There’s consistency. The rules don't change overnight based on emotions. When we’re out of balance on the side of clarity we’ll see people begin to fear us, rebel against us, and leave us – not a good outcome at home or work! When it comes to being fair, the first thing to remember is that life wasn't designed to be fair, either at work or at home. Life was designed to be a learning lesson. However, fairness has become the filter of today's workplace. Everyone wants to feel they're being treated fairly. ‘A fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.’ Of course, what might seem fair to me could seem onerous to you. We treat people fairly when we follow the Golden Rule. By asking how we can serve and help others, practicing kindness and compassion despite any differences we may encounter along the way. We understand to separate the conduct from the person. Managers will continue to struggle with employees about work hours, compensation, communication, expectations, safety, insubordination, conflict, and more. Great managers, like great parents, strike the appropriate balance between firm and fair.

The beginning of the new year is a good time to take stock of your financial situation. One of the best ways to put yourself on firm ground financially is to look over your homeowners insurance. While this insurance is mandatory when it comes to bank-financed mortgages, there is often much you can do to reduce your premiums. Complete a Yearly Deductible Review It is a good idea to get into the habit of looking over your homeowners insurance deductibles every year. If you are like many people, you probably have not thought about your deductibles since you first purchased your policy. Low deductibles that seemed like a good idea when you bought your first home could be costing you money now. Purchasing a home is a big financial step that can leave you with little disposable income in the event of an emergency. It can make more sense to lower your deductible for your homeowners insurance at that point. As you begin to feel more secure in knowing just how much money home maintenance and other necessities take of your paycheck, you can add to your emergency fund. Raising the deductibles of your homeowners insurance can help you balance out the premiums you pay. With a suitable emergency fund, for example, that is equipped to cover those emergencies like the deductible for a replacement roof caused by a storm, you can enjoy savings all year round. Talk to Your Insurance Adjuster For the best results, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your insurance company to sit down and go over your insurance policy. A few adjustments for your deductibles could save you hundreds of dollars each year.
