This recession has caused many American's to lose their employment, which has flooded the market with desperate people searching for employment. What does this mean? Extremely over-qualified and under-qualified individuals apply for each and every job available. This can be a good thing depending on your hiring process. Obviously, the first round of disqualifications are of those who are under qualified for the position. This can decrease the amount of resumes by half. What do you do with those who are over qualified? Well, this can be a double edged sword. They are looking for employment right? Why not take advantage of hiring someone for half the wage with great qualifications? Unless you are willing to pay that person what they deserve, you are less likely to keep those people on staff if a better fitting opportunity comes along. So you might waster your time and money training this person if they are just using your employment position as a band-aid for their own life while they wait for the job they really want. My recommendation? Be flexible. If you find someone that is applying for your job opportunity, be willing to increase the base pay you would be offering to perfectly qualified individuals. Understand the qualities of the person you are looking for and know how to read those qualities in the resumes they submit. How do YOU qualify an individual? What characteristics do you look for in a candidate? How many steps is your hiring process?

Have a new venture that at this point is only hiring independent contractors(1099'ers) as sales reps. Discovery, development, distribution and manufacture of a portfolio of innovative in vitro diagnostic rapid tests kits is the description on the website. On top of that these sales reps will be in multiple states, at least 7 for now and more down the road. The attorney for the client is saying they need to have WC on these ind contractors. I'm having a hard time, better yet no luck finding any company to will even consider this. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I should have said they will have employees, (w-2) down the road in the fall
