Any advice of an auto liability carrier/MGA in Texas?

I am looking for direct market options and opinions for non-emergency medical transport companies. I find wholesalers and MGU and MGA types but am more interested in direct access if possible. Thank you.

I have a customer that does Kayak tours on the lake. People meet at one location and then they will transport them in a 15 passenger van to the lake. Anybody know a market for this?

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Piping Technology and Products Inc. in Houston for four repeat and three serious violations after a worker was injured in June from being struck by a broken die piece on a mechanical press. The repeat violations were cited for failing to guard punch presses and band saws, provide lockout/tagout training regarding energized sources and conduct an annual review of lockout/tagout procedures. The serious violations were cited for a failing to secure a fuel gas cylinder, use undamaged slings for lifting and moving equipment and provide strain relief for electrical wiring. A repeat violation is when an employer has been previously cited for the same or a similar violation of a standard, regulation, rule or order at any other facility in federal enforcement states within the last five years. This particular company was previously cited for similar violations in 2011. A serious violation is when there is substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known. Most people have heard of the Fukushima Diichi nuclear disaster that occurred on March 11th 2011. This catastrophic failure occurred when the plant was hit by a tsunami that was triggered by the Tōhoku earthquake. On March 12th 2011 the plant started releasing substantial amounts of radioactive materials, becoming the largest nuclear incident since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. This disaster along with Chernobyl has been the only two nuclear disasters to measure a Level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. Their government says it usually takes several years after radiation exposure for cancer to develop, but as of August 2013 there have been more than 40 children who have been newly diagnosed with cancer in Fukushima. Data from the Chernobyl accident shows that there was a steady then sharp increase in cancer rates following the disaster. It may be too soon to know the full extent of damage. On July 22nd 2013, more than two years after the incident, it was revealed that the plant is leaking radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. As of August 20th 2013 it was announced that 300 metric tons of heavily radioisotope-contaminated water had leaked from a storage tank. Six days later the Japanese government took charge of emergency measures to prevent further radioactive water leaks. As we start 2014 there are some concerns suggesting tat radiation from Fukushima have hit the West Coast of the United States and is causing major harm to the Pacific Ocean off of California. There is a report from NaturalNews.com that a scientific study found a significant drop off in sea life in the Pacific Ocean. At the same time the people at Deep Sea News are doing their best to debunk these rumors. They state it is not even dangerous to swim off the coast of Fukushima. What do you think? Is it safe and people are over reacting? Or is this something that deserves more attention and precaution?

California Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency for the state, saying it is facing “perhaps the worst drought that California has ever seen since the record began about 100 years ago. In his declaration he called for a voluntary 20% conservation to our water use. The point of this declaration is to wake all of Californians up to the serious situation that people should pause and reflect on how dependent we are on the rain, nature and one other. Since 2011 extremely dry conditions have parched the state and as of 2014 90% of California is currently in a severe drought, meaning this coming year could be a giant fire year. Under the proclamation, Brown directed officials to take "all necessary actions" to address the drought, including assisting farmers and communities with water shortages. He directed state agencies to use less water and hire more firefighters. How do you see the drought affecting the insurance industry?

With the extreme cold weather hitting most of the country do you think it is irresponsible for people to try to make it to school and work? Along with most of the country Atlanta Georgia was hit by the sudden snow and ice storm a few weeks ago. Many people had to abandon their cars on the road because the driving conditions were tremendous. Though some took a risk and took shelter within their own car. Children were stuck at their schools for hours, and were afraid they would not make it home. It was only 2 inches of snow, but Ice was the biggest danger. The roads were frozen over and made driving conditions very dangerous. Georgia is not alone in this storm. These conditions have spread among most of the country. In cases like these, is it more responsible to stay home off the streets, or take the risk to get to work and school?

A new look is in the works for the “Nutrition Facts” labels that are found on nearly every food package in grocery stores. Some changes that will be made are Calories will be in a larger bolder font. Serving sizes will be updated to be more realistic; will be easier to see if there are added sugars. When the labels were created two decades ago the main focus was Fat. People now focus on how many Calories they are eating. The serving size have long been misleading, with many single serving packages listing multiple servings, this was to make the calorie count lower. "Our guiding principle here is very simple, that you as a parent and a consumer should be able to walk into your local grocery store, pick up an item off the shelf and be able to tell whether it's good for your family," said first lady Michelle Obama, who joined the Food and Drug Administration. What do you think of this change? Is it too much for something that already works? Or do you think this is a well over due change that needs to be made?
