https://completemarkets.com/Pages/Discussion/dtopic/GShs_36G9EqHdakEAR4sjw/NON-EMERGENCY-MEDICAL-TRANSPORT-AND-SECURED-TRANSPORT/
We have an account in Nebraska that has two parts and/or entities. The first part primarily transports clients of Health & Human Services in NE, typically within a 200 mile or less radius but they can go into neighboring states. HHS has also requested they take or retrieve clients that are much further away even to CA and once to Alaska. Not the norm but at least once a month they will travel beyond the 200 mile radius for HHS. The second part of their business provides secured transports for HHS and for law enforcement. Many times HHS clients are violent or due to physical or mental issues need to be in a more controlled element for transfer. Likewise local law enforcement will rely on our insured for transporting their charges. In this part they will travel out of state more often but still not on a regular and frequent basis. This represents less than 10% of their runs. We have access to the BHHC companies and to the Atlas Financial Group companies. Who are the current markets that will look at both HHS and secured transport together? Who are the markets for secured transport only

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Piping Technology and Products Inc. in Houston for four repeat and three serious violations after a worker was injured in June from being struck by a broken die piece on a mechanical press. The repeat violations were cited for failing to guard punch presses and band saws, provide lockout/tagout training regarding energized sources and conduct an annual review of lockout/tagout procedures. The serious violations were cited for a failing to secure a fuel gas cylinder, use undamaged slings for lifting and moving equipment and provide strain relief for electrical wiring. A repeat violation is when an employer has been previously cited for the same or a similar violation of a standard, regulation, rule or order at any other facility in federal enforcement states within the last five years. This particular company was previously cited for similar violations in 2011. A serious violation is when there is substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known. Do you feel this company should have spent more time making sure their employees work environment was safe? For the whole story go Here

Hundreds of thousands of retired union workers are facing pension cuts that could slash their monthly payments in half — or even more. The proposed cuts are part of a desperate effort to head off insolvency at multiemployer pension plans, pensions that typically provide benefits for workers at several companies. It's an unconventional move: Pension law has long maintained that cutting the benefits of those already retired is off-limits. Current law allows troubled multiemployer plans to reduce the benefits that employees earn going forward, cut early retirement and disability benefits and hike employer contributions instead. But things have gotten so dire that a coalition of employers and labor unions is asking Congress to change the law. Multiemployer pension plans cover more than 10 million workers and retirees in the trucking, construction, retail, mining, manufacturing and other industries. Historically, the plans were considered more secure since multiple employers pay into the plans instead of relying on the fortunes of just one company. But in the past decade, many plans have struggled with supporting an aging workforce, and large employers have been pulling out of the plans. In addition, many are still dealing with significant losses incurred during the recession. What do you think about this? https://completemarkets.com/Pages/Discussion/dtopic/yIuIT7n9lkuiR6M_ARCeJA/Cyber-Liability-Is-There-a-39-Go-To-39-Carrier/
Cyber Liability is a coverage that a growing number of businesses are demanding, but it's also one that still seems to be in the developmental stage. The trade press is loaded with reports about the cyber loss pandemic, cyber symposiums are taking place all over the world, business and insurance executives are commenting on the growing demand for cyber coverage. Yet I've seen very little in the way of specifics as to who the 'players' are in this arena, what the pricing is like, what terms and conditions are desirable or to be avoided. Among the carriers we represent who write cyber coverage, there's a lot of hand wringing about the eligible classes of business. The complexity of the application forms is another challenge - it took our IT vendor's computer tech nearly two hours to complete one carrier's app, with the comment that the average business owner would be unable to complete it correctly. If you've got a market that offers a comprehensive policy, with an application that can be completed by a layman, and pricing that isn't jaw dropping, I'm sure there are many readers who'd love to hear from you.
