Have you taken a look at the United States Department of Labor recently? I did a quick search on injuries that have been reported for the healthcare industry. I found that they were mostly; falls, trips and slips. These are the most common accidents reported, but there was one that stood out to me as less common. “Employee is injured when exposed to chemical vapors.”

Hospitals carry many cleaning supplies for sterilization, but there are other chemicals that can be toxic to hospital employees.  Mercury in thermometers, phthalates in IV bags, flame retardants in furniture and dioxin from incinerated medical waste can be very toxic and some are known carcinogens.
