Termites. Homeowners' Worst Nightmare.

Termite infestations are a homeowner’s worst nightmare. Finding a small or large colony can mean almost instant panic for some, but rest assured there are proactive measures you can take to limit the amount of damage caused. Regardless of the severity of the infestation, first and foremost you should call a professional to assess the situation. Often times you might not be able to see the whole problem, or if the infestation is small it’s fixable on the initial visit.

If you do find termites in your home here are a few tips:

1. Check for water leaks. Termites are attracted to moist places and small leaks in connections or valves can create the perfect area for termites to gather.
2. Seal cracks in any wood structures. Termites will find dark places to crawl and start their damage so try to limit the access by sealing up any cracks you find.

The optimum option is to have your home inspected annually by a Pest Control professional to properly asses your home and warns you of any potential problem areas.

If you have clients in the Pest Control business, they also need to be insured properly. Cochrane & Company’s Exterminator and Pest Control Insurance program is designed with your client in mind.
