I have Safeco/Travelers through Smart Choice. Progressive direct. Progressive is supposed to roll out their HO3 here at the end of the year. MET would have to drop their rates in half to even be close. I would say for independent agent carriers, I come up against Auto Owners and Erie the most.

Yes. I'm not necessarily leaving them. Just needing options when they don't fit. The contract we have with them allows us to have outside contracts at the same time. They have lost so many markets that we only have Safeco and Travelers left with them.

Most of the Agencies we talk to didn't know when they left Smart Choice they lost there appointments for 2 years and they had to rewrite them. We just moved them over here until there 2 years are up to get reappointed. They don't produce enough volume to keep there appointments most of the time.
Around here Auto owners and Erie are every mile. We have 4 agencies on the same road less then 1/4 apart and all 4 have Erie. Only thing I can't beat Erie on is Dry Cleaners

SafeCo, Grayson Carroll Wythe, SafeCo has good pricing here you just got to move the figures around some. Might have to up the value of a home to get better prices.

Pretty sure GCW only writes in VA. Safeco and Travelers here are hit and miss; mostly miss. We're in a small town with about 8 agents. One Farm Bureau. One State Farm. One Nationwide. An independent that uses Grange and Auto Owners. An independent that uses Erie and Allstate. An independent that does non-standard. And an independent that does Acuity and Keystone. Then us with Safeco/Travelers.

We make a lot off of non-standard. Our International business is huge. Good money and no claims. Contractors and Restaurants is where you need to go after. Good money made on them.

We do quite a bit of that too. We do a lot of marketing for the commercial side. I'm just trying to get some better personal lines options at the moment to do some account rounding on my health block when the occasion arises. I don't like to turn away business, and we regularly get calls from our medical clients wanting us to write their home/auto package. We don't even have to advertise because we get enough business from referrals and in house medical clients. It's just tough when Safeco or Travelers isn't competitive on the package for well over half of what comes in the door and you have to say "maybe next year".

I don't. I've only seen them a few times around here. I'm not sure how their rates are. Do you have them now?
