Hello,
We have a client who is the host of a trade show that will be hosting a seminar and wine tasting event for the trade only - showcasing Italian Wines. The venue requires GL insurance including coverage for all the vendors - there are 29 exhibitors and 5 food vendors. Can anyone write or recommend a carrier that will write the special event policy needed - including vendors providing alcohol. There will be no sales of alcohol they are just providing samples. The venue requires all exhibitors/vendors to be included as additional insureds; waiver of subrogation.

Thank you.

Try Abacus. They have an online platform to quote it. Guidelines vary by state.

Hi Georgia,

Thank you for using CompleteMarkets! I used our FindIt search tool to look for companies that provide Special Event Insurance in Florida. I reviewed the storefronts of these companies and most of them mention Liquor Liability and General Liability. I didn't see anything specific about covering the vendors, but I'm sure one of them should be able to help you out.

I have provided a link to the search results where you can see the companies listed and the direct link to our quote request form. Simply fill out this form with the information about your insured and the information will be sent to all of the companies.

Thank you for your prompt response.
I tried Abacus but they do not cover the vendors with any alcohol.
I will definitely submit to Applachian Underwriters.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Georgia:

I re-read your original post. Why would your client want to take on the primary liability for all these vendors, especially when your client does not control their employees. I think your client would be best served to have all the vendors supply their own general liability with liquor liability included. Your client should require proof of insurance on a primary and non-contributory basis with waiver of subrogation in your client's favor. The coverage should be on a per project/event basis and should name your client and the venue as an additional insured. After all, these vendors deal primarily in alcohol and should already have this cover in place.

Hi Greg,
Thank you for your reply. The client does not want to take on the primary liability for these vendors.
It is actually the venue who is requiring that the policy they take out include vendors liability coverage.
We will go back and find out if the vendors have their own coverage. Thank you for the advice.

Anytime. If they decide to go ahead and take on the primary exposure and you do find cover, be sure to read the stipulations of the policy. I will assume there will be at the very least some kind of contractual requirement between your client and the vendor for the vendors endorsement to apply on that policy.
