Pollution liability coverage is liability protection for accidents caused by the insured involving pollutants. General liability policies exclude pollution liability so this coverage must be purchased separately. This type of coverage is usually purchased by contractors, farms, storage yards, fueling factories, maintenance facilities and airports. The main purpose is to provide coverage for damages such as repair, cleanup and injury or death caused by pollution.
