If your insured has current home insurance, more than likely off premises storage is covered without a limit. The 10% limit doesn't apply as a storage unit is not a residence.

Louis, does tenantpropertyprotection.com allow us as an agent to write a policy for our clients? From what I was reading it seems that the facility where my client's personal property is stored needs to be set up with them before they can purchase the coverage. There are several storage facilities in the area that do not offer the tenant's any options for covering their belongings and I need to be able to meet their needs.

It doesn't help you as an agent, but that type of coverage is available direct to the insured through several online sources. As a general agency, we have been asked that question many times, and we have not found a carrier that can compete with the very inexpensive coverage offered direct to the insured through these sources.

Barry, It is not likely you will find a company that will appoint you for this type of product. If you do, the premium won't be much so commission will be almost nothing.
