I don't think that both of these types of insurance are in the same categories. I would compare Critical Injury insurance with life insurance before I would compare it to health insurance. Health insurance encompasses many more conditions that Critical Injury will. This means that there really has to be a life changing problem with the insured before this insurance even applies. As an example, a broken leg would be covered under just about any insurance plan (If your insurance won't cover a broken leg please send me a PM and I will be happy to introduce you to better coverage!), but a broken leg is not considered a critical injury. On the other hand are operations like organ transplants. Many HMO plans limit the amount that can be spent on these situations by considering the overall variables like patient survivability, but a critical injury plan will cover an organ transplant up to the hard limits of the plan. You should explain some of these differences to your clients so that they can make an informed and intelligent decision about the future of their health.
