Hello all,
I am a cabinet/furniture designer-craftsman who also does a few simple construction projects per year. My cabinetmaking exactness secures interior finish carpentry work (doors with customized functioning, speciality trim installation, etc.) sometimes on its own, sometimes in conjunction with a custom piece I have made. I owned and operated a similar business for fifteen years earlier in life, and am now returning to this work on a part-time basis at age 55. I have done this kind of work my whole life, from about age 15. On this go-round I do not have (nor plan to have) any employees, working as I do in small coastal sailing town, mostly for retired or soon-to-retire high-income individuals and the real-estate firms which rent out their homes when they are not here. Lots of "income properties" in Oriental, NC, and I pick and choose the jobs I want in order to assure doing work only for people who want it done right, are willing to pay for it, and don't care how long it takes me to get to it. Pretty sweet, actually.
I do the whole job myself, and hire only plumbing/electrical subs from whom I insist on receiving certificates of insurance. I am experienced and meticulous in many skills which often "bump up against" the work for which I originally was contacted, like tile and marble, roofing, window repair (I've sold every major window and door manufacturer as a wholesale representative) - in short, I'm a lifelong pro who still has all his fingers and is very deliberate in all I do. I also design most of what I make, though I will also work with the client's interior designer or architect when they prefer. I work about 75 percent of the time in my own dust-free shop (located on the tract where I also live), and the rest in the field either installing work or meeting to conceptualize it with clients.
I seek quotes for 1,000,000/2,000,000 general liability/property damage insurance.
Thanks in advance for your consideration and reply.
