I keeping running into problems trying to place homeowners policies in certain areas of California. I'm probably not the only one. If anyone knows of a insurer that takes relatively high fire risks without a DIC wraparound, please let me know.

Having to resort to CA FAIR plan all the time gets really old, especially because they aren't realistic. FAIR plan will charge upwards to $10k and sometimes more for insurance, they only cover the peril of fire, they have a maximum of $3mil in coverage(not very much for CA), AND they don't offer pay plans so the insured will have to pay for the policy upfront.

If anyone has had success writing high fire risks in CA without FAIR, I'd appreciate any information. Non-admitted insurers are fine too.

Oddly enough, State Farm might still write homes in the fire line area.

Hi Aaron,

The CA Fair Plan covers fire, lightning, vandalism and other perils. You'll actually find that excess and surplus policies can be even higher cost.

As a Farmer's agent you likely have access to Bigfoot, RT Specialty or other excess and surplus markets. Alternatively, you can refer to me and I can refer business you prefer (business owner policies or other homes) to you. Message me or check out our website at www.helpful-agency.com.

Thanks,

Jesus Zaragoza
