Your kids are off for winter break, however you're not.  What are you going to do with the kiddos? What about taking them to the Winter Break Day Camp at Ramsay Park? The Ramsay Park Family Center is operating the day camp at Ramsay Park.  Children from 5-12 years old are welcome to attend, and we will have a ton of fun filled activities! We are open from 7:45 a.m.-6:00 p.m. January 6th-10th. You only need 3 days from 12:00-4:00?  We can do that too!  We also offer a variety of enrollment options to suit  your specific needs for child's daycare. Pajaro Valley Shelter Services presents the 31st Annual Mother’s Day Run/Walk for Shelter on Sunday, May 10th at Ramsay Park in Watsonville and will include a 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk and a 1K Kids’ Fun Run. This year, families with strollers will be allowed in the event.  For 31 years, the community of Watsonville has supported PV Shelter’s Mother’s Day Run to ensure the continuation of services for homeless families. The first race was held in 1984 and raised $8,000. with a small crowd in attendance. This year we expect over 600 people to help raise $100,000! This well-loved event can be enjoyed by attendees of all ages and skill levelS, from the competitive runners to the weekend joggers to families who want to walk together. Starting and ending in Ramsay Park, the race route is a beautiful trek around Watsonville’s slough trails. Start your Mother’s Day off by joining the community in supporting the end of homelessness for mothers, their children and families in South County.  The first race starts at 7:45 and the entire event ends at 10:00 am just in time to enjoy the rest of Mother’s Day. “The Mother’s Day Run has become a tradition. With cool temps and beautiful shadows on the course, this time of day provides a great opportunity to run a fast cross country race. Once again we will offer the Kids one mile, 2.2 mile High School 3 Mile Challenge A 4 mile run A "Sunset Runner" is for those diehard runners willing to race a combine 10k of cross country running by doing both the 2.2 and 4 mile runs with just about a 30 minute break in between. Come get in a great summer workout and support Hartnell College Cross Country. This event is open to all ages, abilities, and even dogs!

You don't hear that faint chirp, but you're in a hurry. Fifteen minutes later, you discover that your car is gone. Welcome to the world of 21st-century auto theft!On the surface, things appear to be improving. Vehicle thefts fell 3.3% nationwide in 2011 (the most recent data) for the eighth straight year. However, auto theft still costs the nation an estimated $5.8 billion a year, thanks to streetwise thugs who feed chop shops and supply lucrative international black markets. These days, car thieves are becoming smarter, more tech-savvy, and harder than ever to stop. Anyone can go to a home-improvement store and buy a $20 device that jams the remote keyless entry transmitter on a vehicle. If you aren't paying attention, you walk away from your vehicle, press the button on the remote, and assume that it locks. However, a thief might be two cars over in the parking lot, punching a button to block the signal. The vehicle doesn't lock, and the thief can take your laptop, portable GPS, or whatever else is inside. With enough time, he can even steal the vehicle! To guard against jammers, pay attention to your surroundings and make sure your car doors do indeed lock when you press the button. Listen for the click or chirp, or look for the quick flash of lights that confirmations locking on most cars. If the vehicle doesn't lock, try again.
