I need a market that can provide coverage for a private therapy home based business in addition to general liability. My client owns a home and it is used as a home therapy retreat center for patients who need additional help with physical therapy. They have the option to stay in the home in one of the rooms or they can just come for a session and leave. My client has a physical therapists who work with the patient and they are sub-contracted and my client only handles the administration part of the business.

https://completemarkets.com/Pages/Discussion/dtopic/Z7bZaQyof0KPKamrAKE_-w/Why-do-Insurance-Companies-have-Different-Writing-Companies-for-Different-Risks/
This is coming from a place of curiosity. I'm hoping someone can help me to better understand. When writing new business (whether its auto, or home, or a personal umbrella), insurance carriers often have different "writing companies" for different types of risk, different territories, etc. For example, a personal auto policy with Progressive may be written with "Progressive Northern Insurance Co.", and another one might be written with "Progressive Specialty Insurance Co.". Another example: let's say one client's home doesn't have all of the necessary updates within 20 years, so they don't qualify for the "elite" tier for a specific carrier. As a result, the "writing" company of this policy is different than the writing company for clients that are in that elite tier (even though both groups are insured by the same carrier). I'm hoping I'm making sense... Does anybody know why these carriers have multiple writing companies? Is it for compliance reasons? Is it for administrative purposes so that the carrier is able to more effectively manage their clients and the types of risks profiles? I would love to learn about why these insurance carriers have so many different writing companies and where this practice/system originated from. Thank you in advance for your help!

Remember the days of paper files and 90 page policies? Technology may have saved our backs from stooping & bending and even prevented those irritating paper cuts, but has it solved the problem of getting that 90 page policy from your desk to your client? “Email it!” you say? That’s not a bad idea. But is it the best one? Convenience says yes, security says maybe and server limitations say - not so quick! As a broker, many times I would receive a call from an underwriter asking if I knew why my email told his email that a file could not be received by my server. My answer – “Wha?” When relying on email alone, situations like this can be problematic. With paper mail becoming less and less desirable and logistically more cumbersome, one solution may be having multiple solutions. What is your agency doing to ensure the successful retrieval of your insurances documents? How do you get those documents out to your clients? As we look into different methods of delivery, consideration of our brokers needs and wants is first and foremost! Your thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone. I'm in need of a market for a halfway house and it does have people in there who have recently been let out from jail/prison. It is a combination of ex-convicts, people struggling with drug addiction and people who have been homeless. The halfway house offers program for people to take to help them learn how to transition back into society and overcome addiction. No one of the employees receive paychecks, they are staff but volunteers and this halfway house is a non-profit.
