Hello Peers We currently write a High Value Homeowner in TX with Chubb. They are undergoing a 120 day renovation project, the contract for which includes a mutual waiver of subrogation clause. Chubb requested the contract when we asked for improvements to be added to the policy, and now they want OFF the policy altogether, because of the WOS Clause. Contractor said that this standard verbiage in all their contracts and this is the first time this issue came up. Other Carriers will not accept the risk while renovation is going on. Any advise on how to handle this? Veronica Ventura

My client owns an elderly adult service, basically her employees go to the home of the patient and they visit with them for the day and help them with small tasks such as; light cleaning and cleaning. The employees do not provide any type of medical help with prescriptions, they do not drive them anywhere, home healthcare services are not provided. My client has 2 employees and need workers compensation and liability. Can anyone who has a market help me with this?

Hi All, I'm in some uncharted territory, preparing to sell homeowners insurance in southern and coastal states. Our agency has yet to quote or issue any home policies down south, which is why I'm reaching out on here to see if anyone has any helpful tips or advice for me. The specific question has to do with building code grades, or the "Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule" (BCEGS) as it relates to writing homeowners policies. Now that we will be selling in states like Florida, where there are greater exposures to things like hurricanes, the Building Code Grade will likely be a rating factor. Does anyone on here has experience with issuing homeowners policies where these building codes were at play? Is there a specific type of document (home appraisal? other form?) that is used to verify the building code? What documentation/proof the insurance companies require? Basically any information at all about the BCEGS would be appreciated. I want to make sure we are fully prepared for this new factor when quoting and issuing homeowners business in new territory. + Multi Quote Top PS - in case this information is at all helpful... our agency uses a comparative rater, and there is a field that asks for the Building Code Grade. The options are "Ungraded" (which we have always used, here in the Northeast), or 1, 2, 3... up to 10. Thanks again everyone!

I recently started writing insurance in Florida however I don't have any avenues for Commercial Auto risks out there. Looking for a brokerage or local agency that is interested in a strategic partnership for all our auto business out there. We're currently pushing hard for contractors of all types and have been very successful with GL, IM, and Pollution but we don't have a home for the auto. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.

With the extreme cold weather hitting most of the country do you think it is irresponsible for people to try to make it to school and work? Along with most of the country Atlanta Georgia was hit by the sudden snow and ice storm a few weeks ago. Many people had to abandon their cars on the road because the driving conditions were tremendous. Though some took a risk and took shelter within their own car. Children were stuck at their schools for hours, and were afraid they would not make it home. It was only 2 inches of snow, but Ice was the biggest danger. The roads were frozen over and made driving conditions very dangerous. Georgia is not alone in this storm. These conditions have spread among most of the country. In cases like these, is it more responsible to stay home off the streets, or take the risk to get to work and school?
