JOB DESCRIPTION : AUTOMATION SPECIALIST
Position: Automation Specialist
Salary Grade: XII
Department: Admin/Acct
Objective: Under the direction of the Administrative/Accounting Manager, plan, lead, and control the operations of the automation function of the agency.
Duties:
1. Select, train, and supervise automation-department staff to meet processing and production standards, conduct and approve performance appraisals, and administer salaries.
2. Develop and implement an ongoing training program for all staff and producers, and also develop a computer training program for new employees.
3. Provide expeditious and accurate reports of activity to the agency's management.
4. Help management, staff, and producers to resolve problems arising out of the automation system and its various functions.
5. Function as the technical bridge with applied systems to resolve problems and implement new programs and rating updates.
6. Monitor all automation supply and equipment needs, and recommend additions and purchases within budget constraints and according to the business plan.
7. Continuously monitor the system's use and recommend changes when needed to maximize its use.
8. Stay abreast of new developments, technology, etc. within the field of automation, and recommend needed changes and improvements to the system when it would be wise to do so.
9. Provide outside consulting services as authorized and directed by agency management. It should be understood that flexibility in work assignments and occasional travel is an integral part of the position.
10. Coordinate automation activity between the main office and branch office(s).
11. Assist in and coordinate the development of management and other reports necessary to the success of the agency.
12. Perform other duties and services as required or assigned.

Performance criteria to measure achievement of stated duties should include:
1. Timely completion and submission of required reports to supervisor.
2. Adherence to and compliance with stated procedures, service standards, personnel policies, and accounting practices.
3. Staff development to carry out departmental charges.
