WHEN IS BODILY INJURY NOT PERSONAL INJURY?

Dear (Customer Name),

WHEN IS BODILY INJURY NOT PERSONAL INJURY?

Does your firm carry Liability insurance? Of course, it does. And does your Liability insurance include Bodily Injury protection? Naturally.

But how about Personal Injury coverage? Maybe not. Sad to say, many business owners automatically assume that bodily injury and personal injury are one and the same.

Not so. Personal injury refers to injury that is not defined as direct physical harm. This might include libel, slander, defamation of character, false arrest, malicious prosecution, wrongful entry, wrongful eviction, or invasion of the right of privacy.

Accusation of any of these might make you liable to a personal injury lawsuit, with the chance of an unfavorable judgment running to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Obviously, Personal Injury protection is something no Liability policy can afford to be without.

One more point: Even if you presently have Personal Injury insurance, chances are you are not protected from suits by your own employees. You have enough to worry about. Make sure you're not confronted with problems beyond your control. Make sure your insurance policy is providing you with what you really need it for: Peace of mind.
