Last week, one of our social media marketing specialists forwarded me yet another example of how disconnected we sometimes are with our clients.
The Specialist had posted a homeowners blog (
on behalf of the agency) and one of the agency's contacts engaged by saying that she wished she could place more business with the agency, but was told that the Agency did not write farm business (see the attached actual screenshot).
It turns out that the Agency in fact would write this type of business and they could also
'Find A Market' on CompleteMarkets anytime to help round out this client quite easily - the CSR desk had given the client incorrect information.
The average US household has over 8 insurance policies.
What boggles my mind is this - if the average US Household carries around 8 policies (P&C, L&H), why does the average independent agency only have 2 of those policies? We all know this, but do very little about it. In the meantime, our precious clients are going somewhere else to write policies that we could easily make money on because they are under the impression that we are NOT experts in what they need!
Do your clients get the WHOLE Picture of your agency?
And I don't just mean P&C Agencies.
Every agent and CSR - Personal, Commercial, Benefits, Life, Health & Financial services agent should be playing attention to this fact that we just don't do a good enough job of rounding up accounts. WE ARE LEAVING MONEY on the table, every day!
Heck, don't we have enough problems losing business to direct writers and aggregators without taking care of our own clients - a book that we have worked so hard to retain?
As an Insurance Professional, that fights every day for your customer -
what do YOU think? Do you think you are doing a good enough job communicating with your clients? Do you think your clients know that NOT MATTER WHAT their insurance need, YOU will figure out how to help them?
Post your comments here. Engage with me and others - this is a problem so many insurance folks that I talk to have an opinion about but do very little to handle it within their agencies.
