To Blog, Or Not To Blog?

Do you regularly read any blogs?  (Besides this one...lol)  Why?  Do you get anything out of them?  What purpose do they serve?  Have you ever authored a blog yourself?  Why not?

Blogging is sharing.  We all have something to share, or to learn – often both.  On CompleteMarkets, you will find blogs covering many different topics.  These blogs are by gurus/experts, your peers, your competitors, and basically anyone in the Insurance Industry who feels as though they have something to say.

So is it all just a bunch of noise?  You decide.  And if you feel that someone is off the mark, call them on it.  The beauty of most blogs is that they usually include a “comment” section, where you can begin a dialog with the author.  You can ask them for further clarification of their point, or if they are posting what you feel is erroneous information, you can point it out to them, allowing them to defend their position, or perhaps even change their viewpoint.

Better yet, if you’ve got insights and experience to share, why not start blogging yourself?  There are many benefits to blogging.  It is a very effective way to engage and educate your clients and prospects, and also serves as a very effective channel for Public Relations.  Wish to share breaking news or other pertinent information with your database?  Post it to your blog.  It will get pushed out to anyone subscribed to it.

A much discussed but little understood benefit of blogging is the effect it can have on the SEO of your company website.  The fact is, having content on sites like CompleteMarkets that links back to pages on your website will support your website SEO, by being catalogued by the algorithms that drive the major search engines.  This is known as “offsite SEO,” and it not only supports your onsite SEO very effectively, it also can serve as a filter for that traffic.  The audience has already been “educated” about you from your blog.  No “Looky-Lous” here!

If you’re not already a member, join CompleteMarkets today, set up a profile, and contact their friendly and oh-so-helpful Customer Support team to see about setting up your own blog on the premier professional network for the Insurance Industry!
